While we are touched by poetry, especially which has become popular through cinema, most of us have virtually no appreciation of the real genius-the shaayar, the creative fount- who is ignored, unsung and, more often than not, forgotten. Our aim at Ibaadat is to work towards reducing this injustice. Ibaadat is a Trust founded by a group of friends who have a shared passion for poetry-both Hindi and Urdu.
About Ibaadat Shows
Extensive research on each poet is done over a 36-48 month period, including reading his entire body of work, and meetings with the poet’s family. This is then converted into a 150-minute story/screenplay. Family member/s of the poet are made part of the script. Each show has 15-18 full songs, sung on tracks specially created by us to bring these close to the originals. To showcase the wide range, several songs are presented only through about 60-70 antaras/mukhdas. Selected ghazals/shers of the poet are also recited. In some shows, dances are added.
Entry is by invitation only, through free passes, to connoisseurs. There are no memberships, sponsorships or tickets.

Our Anniversary/Special Events have included Lafz-o-Aavãz, Shãm-e-Ibaadat, Mehfil-e-Samã, Sadã-e-Dard, Lutf-e-Ibaadat, Safarnãmã-e-Ishq and Ibaadat Ka Safar.
Funding: Our activities are funded by the corpus created by the Trustees, contributions from friends (exempt under Section 80G), advertisements in Event Souvenirs and CSR support.
