Ek Tha Raja, Delhi - Some messages received

It was a pleasure to attend the show on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. The same was not only informative about the great poet, but the song selection was also excellent. Hope Ibaadat would continue to produce informative programs on lyricists so that persons like us are enlightened of the important role played by them in a song and development of a story. Pramod B. Agarwala, Advocate-Supreme Court of India, PBA Legal LLP

Thank you for an overwhelmingly beautiful program. I have no words to describe how riveted I was and how much I learned from it. Really appreciate all your efforts. Rekha Bajpe Aggarwal, Founder, Studio Re4clay

I would like to congratulate you on a beautiful event. The in-depth research and effort on your part were clearly evident. Vineet Aggarwal, Exporter of lady handbags

It has been a pleasure attending your wonderful programmes. Meera Ahuja, Member, Delhi Commonwealth Women’s Association

It was a beautiful program as usual. My daughter and I enjoyed it immensely. It is done with so much effort and care. Nisha Ahuja, Partner, Bharat Bhushan & Co.

Just sharing this video of two wonderful talents…Parth and Dev, hoping it reaches the right platform for recognition. Geetanjali Anand

I was truly impressed with the show and enjoyed the music. I was probably the only person in the audience who cannot speak any Indian language. But it was my first time seeing such a show, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for allowing me the experience. I will never forget it. Dr. Steve A. Arshinoff, Prof. Dept. of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences, University of Toronto, Canada

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. For my wife, the songs were especially memorable, even poignant. These were her mother's favourties from her childhood, when her mother used to sing most of them. She is no more. You are a versatile pro, I must say. My compliments. I see Ibaadat's value in highlighting the occluded role of the poets/lyricists in making the songs such perennial embodiments of our fond memories, aesthetic delight and recurrent enjoyment. Do convey my congratulations to everyone on your team! T.K. Arun, Former Editor, Economic Times

What a show! Awesomest. Didn’t meet you after the show as you were swamped. My only hasrat was that we missed 6 of your programmes as we were not in India. Atul Bagai, Head, United Nations Environment Programme Country-India and Dipa Bagai, Advisor, National Health Authority

Capt. Lakhinder Singh Bahl

What I loved: The format - informal discussion made it interesting and informative at the same time. Don't think there was a better way to showcase the poet's brilliance. Sangeeta Gupta's recalling incidents of her father and Raja. Raja's poems: Daddy mat maro, Manto's calling Raja to Heaven and the one about friends. Highlight for me: Prithvi's grandsons singing Sikandar ne Porus. Raviraj Baijal, Director, RKB Textiles

Really so lovely the way you presented Raja Sahab ka program. P. Balaji, Executive Director, Vodafone

Compliments for the show ‘Ek tha raja’. It was a masterly presentation and the interest did not flag even for a minute. Your role Prithvi was, of course, primus inter pares but effectively complimented by the others. The singers were first rate and, in particular, I would praise Supriya Joshi and Sarvesh Mishra. Our compliments once again and we would look forward eagerly to future programs. Ashok Chawla, Retd. Chairperson, Competition Commission of India

Parag Dimri, General Manager-Marketing, Eldeco Infrastructure & Properties Ltd.

Excellent program. We enjoyed it tremendously. The Jhoomka dance item, recitation of the poems, and Madan Mohan’s stories by his daughter were particularly fascinating. Warm Regards, Arun Duggal, Chairman, ICRA Ltd.

Honestly, this was a different Edition of Ibaadat. Before the show, I was wondering how much stories would be there about this less known gentleman and that probably the contents would be more songs than story telling. Was so pleasantly surprised to find things just the opposite. Gopa Dutta

Last evening’s Ibaadat was an experience, totally gripping and very well presented especially the dance made it different. All my friends who came for the first time are already waiting for the next shrinkhala! Kudos to all. I was wondering if you would also perform for our club namely Swar Manjari. Vidhu Gadia, Sr. School Teacher

It was a wonderful event very well curated, Though I am weak at understanding shayari and ghazals, I still enjoyed most of the programme. Two of the Hindi films which I saw earliest in my life were Woh Kaun Thi and Mera Saaya and while I had enjoyed the songs and picturisation but I never bothered to know about the lyricist who played the major part in these songs. Thank you for bringing his life to us Two crowing glories of the event. aa) Great singing by Parth and action by Dev - delightful and talented children bb) Live presence and active participation of Madan Mohan's daughter. Artists have no boundaries of nations and religion and it was brought us well with the life of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. I hope current ruling dispensation will realise this. You mentioned that Ph.D research was done on the life and work of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. I think a case study should be commissioned on your Journey of Passion, with Naveen and your team from the start to the success of Ibaadat by IIM Ahmedabad. Please do let me know I can be of any help at a personal level for your efforts. S.L. Ganapathi, Chairman, Symatech Associates

It was a delightful experience. So soulfully, graciously and sensitively crafted and delivered. Let Ibaadat continue to bring Hindustan’s beautiful and syncretic culture before the country in shows like this. Best wishes. I have made a token contribution of Rs. 10000. Subhash Chandra Garg, Former Union Finance Secretary

Thanks for organizing such a wonderful evening of great songs of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. The songs beautifully sung reminded me of my childhood of sixties. Vivek Gautam, Former Director, SPA Capital Services Ltd.

It was fantastic …loved every moment of nostalgia and emotion that the evening brought back. What you all put together is simply so special. I have already made a contribution and would do again. Regards, Neeraj Ghei, Director, Select Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.

Fantastic show. Anurag Goel, Retd. Member, Competition Commission of India

Thanks for a lovely evening, Rakesh (and Prabha) Govil, Partner, Consilium Advisors

As always, the Raja Mehdi Ali Khan show was a fantastic effort. It transported one back to an era when lyrics were the hero of the dish with a spice blend of music and voice and it was these lyrics which have made these songs live on in our hearts. Thank you for bringing this to us. Also please share the bank details. Alka Gupta, Canada

A wonderful drama. My cheers go out to Dev and Parth. Mridula Gupta, Director, Mridul

Beautifully conducted! Very professional. Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, Cyber Media (India) Ltd.

Attending the show, as always, was a wonderful experience. Thank you to Ibaadat for putting the spotlight on lyricists. There was so much one learnt about Raja Mehdi Ali Khan the lyricist but also the person (thanks to all your research!). In fact, my favourite bit was the reading of his exchanges with Manto. The selection of songs was great and I enjoyed the reimagined versions of some of the masterpieces such as Lag Ja Gale. For me personally, it was wonderful to hear a lot of my favourite songs composed by my grandfather and to register how many of those were collaborations with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan!! Seeing my mother on stage was of course the cherry on the cake. Both Santosh and I also really enjoyed the performance by your grandsons. Seems like this was a special treat for the dilliwalahs! Overall, some of my favourite bits of the evening were the sections where Obaid ji read out sections from Raja Mehdi Ali Khan's correspondence and other writings. Putul Gupta, J-PAL

Thank you so much for having provided us an opportunity to be part of such a marvellous event. A memorable evening by all means. Every time I attend your programme, I start loving music more and more. After attending the programme this time, I have been listening to Raja's songs much more frequently and enjoying them much more as I am now able to relate his songs with life. It was a wonderfully organised programme. I do not think I can make any suggestion to improve it any further as I feel it was just perfect. Ramesh Chander Gupta, Ex Partner, BGJC & Associates

Thank you for a fantastic evening. Parth and Dev were outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience with a fabulous team. It is a family of wonderful people. Thank you for making me a part of it. I hope I lived up to your expectations. Warm regards to Priyanka ji, your gorgeous daughter and her amazing boys and you at the top of the list. Sangeeta Gupta, (Daughter of music maestro Madan Mohan)

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Presentation, stage setting, script and research was excellent. Will be happy to attend more such programs. Shailendra Mohan Gupta, Director, Jagran

The musical show was superb and just excellent. All the singers were wonderful. The script of the programme was good and the style of conversation was also first rate. Similarly, the stage design and décor were admirable. The overall presentation was marvellous as it was executed in an informal style. The song “Hamse Nain Milana” was like a cool breeze; it is my favourite song. The song “Watan Ki Raah Mein Watan Ke Naujawan Shaheed Ho” was a feather in the cap, its presentation was superb. At the end of the programme, you mentioned a very good thing-that whenever we listen to a good song, we must keep in mind or inquire about the lyricist who wrote that song. Surender Kumar Gupta, Retd. Director, Ministry of Home Affairs

Many thanks for the show. It was amazing and enjoyed it very much. You sang very well…difficult song beautifully rendered…all performed very well. Deepak (and Suman) Gupta, Director, Eurus Network Services

Loved the energy and the final output. The next one cannot come soon enough! Monika Halan, Ex Editor, Mint Money

Stayed back in Delhi just to ensure I see this new show. As great as any in the past. Didn’t know all those gems were penned by Raja.. I loved the confidence and perfection of Parth and Dev. I cannot even imagine what all goes behind the story that you weave so beautifully. Dr. Daulat Haldea, Florida, USA.

I have heard almost all these songs growing up with you. Even Sikandar ne Porus, which Hemant Mama used to sing to us. It was so emotional to see my little ones perform so well on both the days. I have a few minor suggestions on the script, which I will tell you. Pooja Haldea, Consultant, Ashoka University

Courtesy you and Mamma, we are fully into the songs of the Golden Era. Knew almost every song. Experimentation of Sarvesh singing a Lata song was very good. May be, he could have done one more Lata song! I did notice that you had a tighter and a shorter script. Dev and Parth were show-stealers. Pranav Haldea, Managing Director, Prime Database

The show was fabulous. The performance by Parth and Dev was excellent and a welcome addition too. Attending all these shows organised by you really gives insight into the life and works of lyricists. Unfortunately, not many people give credit to the lyricist for the song. To be honest, I was no different. I also gave all the credit to the singer and the musicians. Attending your shows has changed my perception. Great efforts by you and your team to save the legacies of these legendary lyricists. It is commendable. Satya Priya Haldia, Director, S&S Packing Co.

Me as well as my friends enjoyed the program and we never knew that he had penned the lyrics for so many hit movies to the tunes of Madan Mohan. Very unfortunate that both these stalwarts left at such a young age. Dr. Shree Haldia

The theme of your shows of honouring the lyricists through a well-crafted script is really laudable and a true tribute to the lyricists for their contribution!! As for selection of songs and the quality of the singers, I can just say that I had goosebumps so many times!! Overall, an exhilarating show!!!’ Dr. Ajay Jain, Managing Partner, Jurisprudent Consulting

It was truly a mesmerising and engrossing experience. Your conception and thorough research (finding the lost 3rd stanza, for instance) were the true stars of the show. Special mention for Parth and Dev for their wonderful rendition. The portions of the show where you used songs without music was a true tribute to shaayari. Madan Mohan is my favourite music composer and this made the experience all the more nostalgic. Anubha Jain, Advocate, Supreme Court of India

You keep reminding me Prithvi of our Pilani days…you were always intelligent and diligent. I have seen all your shows, and each one appears to be better than the previous one. Keep it up. And train Parth and Dev well. This program as the earlier programs was very well conceived, planned, rehearsed and then presented flawlessly without any interruption. A very good teamwork. Desh Bhushan Jain, Retd. Director, Zenith Steel Pipes

Short of words. Great script. Supriya and Sangeeta Melekar were just too good. Keep it up. Jyotirmoy Jain, Retd. Secretary, ASSOCHAM

Please accept my heartiest congratulations on staging this show. It was a soulful show. I have no words to express my gratitude. And yes, I am making a donation. With best regards, Mridul Jain, Madhubun Books

Congratulations and thanks to you and your team for organising such a wonderful, informative and enjoyable musical extravaganza. The programme was very well researched and extremely well presented. The script of the programme was thoughtfully prepared and presented seamlessly. The selection of songs was done with precision and the selected singers did full justice by singing the songs melodiously and with grace and dignity. Rani and I wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to you for inviting us to participate in such a wonderful programme which brought smiles on our faces and happiness and enormous joy in our hearts. Naresh Kumar (and Rani) Jain, Retd. President, Institute of Company Secretaries of India

The content, compilation, presentation was superb. Enjoyed fully. Nirmal Kumar Jain

The show was excellent with beautiful singing. Praveen Jain, Director, Pathways School

It was a great show. Well organised and professionally conducted. Send me the bank details for my voluntary contribution, Praveen Kumar Jain, Chartered Accountant

It was excellent. R.K. Jain, Ministry of Finance

Many congratulations for putting together the show on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. It was splendid! The research was meticulous and the singing as usual top class. It was indeed commendable that you thought of doing a program on a lyricist who may not be as popular as say Sahir, Shailendra or Majrooh but who has written some equally unforgettable songs. What I also liked was the fact that the show was not confined to the songs and lesser-known facets like his flair for humour and satire were sufficiently brought out. And your grandchildren, Dev and Parth, stole the show! Rupesh Jain, Ex Partner, O.P. Vaish & Associates

Kudos to you and your entire team for the wonderful performance. As usual, the show was awesome. Though I am a lover of old music, I did not know much about Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. In a very short period of 15-20 years, he wrote 468 songs and produced some excellent lyrics. A real eye opener. Shashi Kishore Jain, Retd. Consultant, Inox

My sincere gratitude for inviting me to the musical event "Ek The Raja" based upon the legendary shaayar, poet and lyricist Janab Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. It was a wonderful opportunity to attend such a splendid event, and I am thankful for the chance to be a part of it. The musical performances were breathtaking, and the ambiance was just perfect. The artists were fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed their performances. The event was well-organized, and everything ran smoothly. I was impressed by the attention to detail and the effort put in by your team to make the event a success. I want to thank you for your hospitality and your kindness throughout the event. It was a pleasure meeting other luminaries and I appreciate the time and effort you took to make me feel welcome. I am also willing to volunteer for Ibaadat Foundation in future. Once again, thank you for inviting me to the musical event. It was a memorable experience that I will always cherish. Zameer Jaiswal, Personal Asst.to Mr.U.K.Sinha

Thanks so much for this brilliant show! You raise the bar each time. The amount of effort put into research, for this final product, is just phenomenal and I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for so many of those unseen or unheard of before, priceless gems. The information on Rajaji, the singers, presenters, those two cute little kids…Dev and Parth, the music, altogether, made for a fabulous presentation. Neeta Jalan

What an awesome evening! You guys outdid yourselves! Such painstaking research, followed by a truly soulful performance over such an extended period of time, was remarkable! Everyone played their part to perfection! You would be pleased to note that the hall remained packed to the end with everyone glued to their seats!! Best Regards. Sanjeev Jawahar, Owner, Spirit Clothing Co.

Thank you very much for allowing us to witness the moments of history which were brought to life brick-by-brick by you in “Ek tha Raja… Raja Mehdi Ali Khan” musical drama program. Wonderful show as usual. Hope you have received my small contribution of Rs. 1 lakh. Sanjay Kaul, Director, FE Securities Pvt. Ltd.

Many thanks for giving us the opportunity to witness the amazing and awesome programme dedicated to the great poet and lyricist Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. The show was designed and delivered in a very imaginative and impressive manner. It was a memorable evening of alfaaz aur aawaz, sur aur saaz and will remain etched forever in our heart and soul. Best wishes for Ibaadat's forthcoming events which I am sure will continue to be adored and admired by the audience. Harun R. Khan, Retd. Dy. Governor, Reserve Bank of India

Ibaadat... an emotion. This initiative was started by a very close relative (rishtey mein Prithvi Haldea is my grandfather in law), I think on the 12th of Nov 2011 when they had their first show which I missed since it was my silver anniversary that day. This Foundation brings to light the work of eminent lyricists of yester years. One such programme was yesterday to appreciate the work of Raja Mehdi Ali khan... yes.... even I said Who.??? when I first heard the name. Believe me if you get to know the songs he has penned, you will be taken by surprise. "Woh kaun thi ".... "Mera saaya".."Anpadh" ..." Ek musafar Ek haseena"...are a few of his great films. The world-acclaimed "Lag jaa gale" by Lata and Madan Mohan is penned by him... My all-time favorite romantic songs are only credited to them. It's an irony that most of the times. the lyricists go unnoticed. The famous "jhumka gira re..."aap ki nazaron ne samjha" are his works...Babaji.... it was you who made us realise that the soul of the song is the writer... The music and the singer only contribute to it. Thank you for this awesome initiative. I love every show of yours. May your Ibaadat grow more and more. Your hard work and your love and passion for poetry shows. God bless you and your team who spread the love of music n poetry. May your tribe grow. Aarti Khandelwal

Glad that we made the trip, especially for your show. It was just fantastic. Anil (and Laxmi) Khandelwal, Director, Lallsons Fabrica, Agra

I am ever so grateful that you always make us a part of your Ibaadat journey. The show was excellent. Your hard work shines through...May your tribe grow... Also a few of my friends want to be part of this. Atul Khandelwal

This concert was a unique among all the concerts we attended, specially the comic parts of concert. Your minute research about lyrics is commendable, only a person like you can do it. We thoroughly enjoyed. Sending you a contribution of Rs. 10,000. Regards, Rakesh Kant (and Bharati) Khandelwal, Partner, Malhotra Khandelwal & Co.

We had the opportunity to attend yesterday’s show, and it truly was a privilege. Ibaadat’s mission to celebrate lyricists corrects a long-term oversight in India’s music industry and sets a fantastic example for other industries and places to emulate. Ibaadat’s beautiful mission was backed up by superb professional execution and a night of mesmerizing music. It was a truly beautiful evening, and we are grateful to you for so beautifully expanding our horizons. Mukesh (and Shikha) Khandelwal, Former Director, Feedback Ventures

The show Ek tha Raja on the great shayar Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was truly entertaining and splendid. The performers were exceptional, and they left no stone unturned in delivering a memorable experience. It was well-coordinated and in perfect sync with each other, making the performance an absolute joy to watch. What made the event even more special was the lot of information shared by the narrators. They not only entertained us with their music but also shared insightful anecdotes and stories that kept us engaged throughout the concert. We were all lost in the euphoria of the moment, swept away by the music and the captivating performances. In conclusion, I must say that attending this show was truly an experience to remember. The entertaining and splendid performances, combined with the wealth of information shared by the performers, made for a magical evening that I will cherish forever. I highly recommend attending events featuring these talented artists. Kindly share your Paytm number for sending a humble token of appreciation and gratitude for the noble cause of Ibaadat. Anand Khare, PGM, BSNL Corporate Office

I keep wondering how you can create and execute a show like this. Each one is a gem. Dr. K.P. Krishnan, Retd. Secretary to Government of India

We are back in Mumbai after enjoying your show and the dinner at your place. Great time. Sanjaya (and Shaila) Kulkarni, Managing Director, Indian Direct Equity Advisors Pvt. Ltd.

I had given my comments on the Shailendra and Hasrat shows earlier – and do note that many of the “improvement areas “are not valid this time around. This is testimony perhaps that that you do take all feedbacks diligently and make improvements! a really powerful process indeed) Positives Gate management far far more streamlined. Hall well occupied and less of late comers- lesser no shows Cameos were superb (once again) dancing across, amazing kids, Jhumka dance. Singers were awesome. I noticed a lot more of grey-haired gentlemen and ladies – was it by plan? Arvind Kumar, Retd. Sr. Vice President, Edelweiss

I was privileged to witness such a wonderful musical evening. It was my first experience of such kind of event. Even being a music lover, I have no knowledge about Rajasaheb. Presentation, singing everything was superb. Most importantly, adherence to the timing is great. Deepak Kumar, Trained Graduate Teacher-Social Sciences, Government of Delhi

I don’t think I have words enough to express my appreciation of your wonderfully curated programme on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. Yet I will try - wonderful, well thought of, deeply researched script, elegant and mesmerising Sangeeta Ji, the host; her voice is a treat to the ears; all the singers were too too good (Kahan se Khoj ke laaye aap yeh aawwazein!!) Jhumka song, the dancer was so graceful and the kids - OMG- they kept the audience smiling and I loved their duet. Inviting Madan Mohan ji’s daughter was a lovely gesture; it gave a personal touch. This will be incomplete if I don’t mention Naveen Ji, and those behind the scenes who put their heart and soul to make this event such a big success. I think after attending this show I would not like to miss any of your future programmes. Thank you all You all made this evening very special for us. Kavita Kumar, Retd. Teacher

A memorable evening after a long hiatus. Powerful and well researched script, talented singers and imaginative choreography gave a fitting tribute to one of the greatest lyricists of Hindi cinema. Disappointed at not congratulating you personally this time. Regards Manoj Kumar, Retd. Addl. Chief Secy, Himachal Pradesh

Thank you so much for putting up such a splendid show. Frankly, this was way beyond what I had imagined it could be. The dialogues, the songs, the presentation and the concept as a whole. Especially bringing in daughter of Madan Mohan ji and reading poetry (that poem from Montu writing from heaven was awesome) besides explaining the life which was full of life force. Selection of songs must have been a herculean task I must say and then making it so crisp to fix within such a short duration. Huge efforts must have gone under it, I can just imagine. Hats off sir for all your efforts!!! Am finding difficult to find words to explain my feelings. Kindly pardon me. Only thing I can mention is “heartiest congratulations”. Thank you so much again for letting my wife and me become part of this historical evening. Will remember it for a long, long time. Will be glad if I can also support the cause. Parveen Kumar, National Head–Assurance, ASA & Associates LLP

A fantastic show. Your grandchildren were just amazing. The dance sequence was scintillating. Your researching out the baby video is truly commendable. The story telling was immaculate. Raj Kumar, Sangeet Visharad, Gwalior

Bahut khub tha. Thanks for all the hard work for our benefit. Those amazing melodies took me back to my school/college days. Rajiv Kumar, Retd. Vice Chairman, Niti Aayog

The program on Raja Sahib was wonderful. It was very well researched, Very well planned. Excellently well presented. The songs were great. The singers did great justice to the song. The dance was great. The musicians who composed the music did an excellent job. It really took us to the good old days of melody. I thank God for choosing your team for this as He knew nobody else was worthy of doing justice to His great personalities that He created, who were superb in their fields and mostly forgotten and less talked about. Me and my family thank you and the Little Angels Parth and Dev. God bless you all and hope that you and your great team continue this forever. Dr. Rakesh Kumar

I am very much thankful for you that I witnessed a great show, Ek tha raja. It was a unique and superb show that mesmerized. The concept of show was outstanding. I did not know that both the legendary artists...Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Madan Mohan had created many hit and melodious songs and ghazals. Vipin Kumar, Advocate

What a show!!!!! Hats off to you, everything was perfectly planned and very well executed. Very engaging!! You were looking so dapper! Icing on the cake: The kids were sooooo adorable on stage. The confidence with which Parth sang, oh my god. Dev was soo perfect with his actions! I love them! Rohit (and Ashima) Lall, Executive Asst. to Chairman, GMR Group

Thoroughly enjoyed. Very gripping and entertaining, Seema Lall

This is just to say that it was a fabulous show, artfully presented and gave us a glimpse of the world of composers and lyricists which is fascinating for its creative brilliance. Truly but sadly, it was said that we remember the song but not its writer who is the genius behind the singer. Thank you very much. All the players were exceptional in their performance. Raj Liberhan, Chairman, Center for Science & Environment, Retd. Director, India Habitat Centre

The show was so mesmerizing! Like always, it was professionally organized with such amazing performances. Thanks to you and your whole team for putting on such a wonderful show. Vinod Madhok, Founder-Editor, Moneytech Finacial Observer

To my dearest Bharat Ratna of Creativity. Martin Heidegger, the German philosopher once said, “And whereof one cannot speak, one must remain silent” Kuch aisa hi masla hai mere saath. Aap logon ki ibadat hai bhi lajawab aur hamare paas kahne ko bahut kucch hai…aur phir bhi kahin zeban mein ek sannata hai, ek khamoshi, ek hairat…ki yeh bhi mumkin hai kya jo aap ne kar dikmaya hai. Nostalgia, guzre hue zamane ko lekar kayee laakh koshishen hoti hain par aap ki Ibaadat apne mein bemisal hai. Sari duyayein, mohabbat aur iltejah hai aapse…ki humein apne se juda na keejiyega aur yeh silsila jaari rakhiyega, Aap ka mureed. Maanik Mahna

I congratulate you to organise such a wonderful show. Most of the time I felt that I am in direct conversation with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Madan Mohan ji. On the event management side, it was an eye opener to small organizers like us. No extravagance and unnecessary time wastage on honoring guests etc was visible. You have decent friends who are sincere music lovers and have lot of respect for you and Ibaadat. Long to see such shows in future too. Very tidy and time bound program. Jaswant Singh Malhotra, Founder-Chairman, Philharmonic Singers Foundation

What an outstanding event it was!! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of 'Ek Tha Raja'. An absolutely brilliant production with amazing research, a fantastic script, awesome narration, a lovely stage set-up and superb singing!! Beautifully put together! And your grandchildren performed so very well, with so much confidence - they have surely inherited your and Priyanka's love for poetry and music! God Bless them! Ibaadat is truly a great initiative and effort to remember, respect and revive our wonderful culture, the contributions of poets, lyricists and artists of the times gone by and also encourage the up-and-coming talent of tomorrow. We wish the Foundation all the best for the future! Thank you, once again, for inviting us and for a superb evening yesterday! Nandini (and Rajesh) Malhotra, Former DD Newsreader

Wonderful display of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan’s life story and his compositions being sung by some great singers. Keep up with the good work Ibaadat is doing. Major General Dr. Raman Kumar Marwaha, Retd. Look forward to more such amazing experiences- courtesy the ‘Haldeas’. Atul M. Mathur, Retd. Sales Manager-Power Systems, Caterpillar Dealership

We loved and enjoyed every minute of it. The format of the show, the stage presentation, the collection of songs and most of all, all the singers and artists were exemplary. Really enjoyed the letters & articles’ reading segment. We appreciate your personal hard work, dedication, tremendous research that must have gone into making this show a success. Incidentally, my husband’s family had very close family relations with Madan Mohan ji. I hope that we could have the pleasure of attending your future programmes, as and when they happen. Neetu Mathur, Retd. Marketing Co-ordinator, Kodak

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to witness and enjoy a lovely, heart-warming and rarely witnessed musical evening. What a wonderful and lovely program. A rare and exquisite combination of a different format and style of presentation, selection of songs, high quality of singing, and on top, the intense research by you on the life and achievements of Raja saheb. Absolutely outstanding. Our best wishes for the continued success of Ibaadat Foundation. Vijai (and Rekha) Mathur, Partner, Link Legal India Law Service. Also Smita Jha and Pooja Mathur Pande

Thank you for a wonderful show. Alka and Vineet Mathur, Surgesystems

As any other previous program of Ibaadat, ‘Ek Tha Raja’ was also an excellent program. I keep going to musical programs but I can say without any doubt that your programs are the best. The formal is just perfect, please do not change it, with the prefect blend of research, storytelling, song selection, singers, celebrity guests… what more can we ask. The passion you and your team is well reflected in the final outcome, which is just superb, Ibaadat has set a benchmark in this area. Sanjeev Mehra, Managing Director, Markets India, Statkraft Markets Pvt.Ltd.

On the very onset I must congratulate you and your team for a mesmerizing show on one of the doyens of lyrics of Indian cinema. Apart from being enjoyable, the show was also very educative as I am sure most of the Cinema lovers are unaware that some of the most iconic songs are penned by Raja Mehdi Ali. The light, sound, stage presentation was very effective. Both the children, Parth and Dev deserve a special praise for coming on such a big stage and performing to perfection for their age. I have no doubt that you and your team has succeeded in making Raja Mehdi Ali immortal in the hearts of all those who witnessed the show. Our sincere thanks to both Madhu and you for inviting us for dinner and music session at your residence. It was on unforgettable evening which we shall cherished for a long time to come. Please convey our blessings and love to dear Pranav and his wife. It was really a pleasure to have enjoyed your hospitality both at Kamani auditorium and at your residence. Neelam (and Mradul) Mehrotra, Sr. Teacher, St.Patricks, Agra

Your attention to detail is amazing! K.S. Mehta, Managing Partner, S.S.Kothari Mehta & Co.

It was most enjoyable. Neelam Misal, Director, Misal Developers Pvt. Ltd.

My wife and I enjoyed last evening 's program immensely. You are a perfectionist and leave nothing to chance. Even the tiny Haldeas' performance was perfect. My wife is a near addict when it comes to old Hindi film songs and she knew each of the 51 songs your team presented. I wish you and your team good health and long life. Satyananda Mishra, Retd. IAS

A very professional unique well curated program. It gets better each time. A more than house full remained glued to the seats enjoying. Som Mittal, Former President, NASSCOM

The show was as always magnificent. So was the arrangement both on stage and in the hall. The script and performance, singers and actors were super-rate. It has always been an enriching experience to attend to your shows. Manu (and Rekha) Mridul, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court/High Court

Rupali Nagar Sanjha

Congratulations for organising such a splendid show! What a ‘Haseen Sham’ it was! Just about everything was par excellence. The show began and ended with unplugged versions of the haunting Lata classics Mera saaya saath hoga and Lag ja gale, both beautifully rendered by Supriya. Sangeeta Melekar sang Asha’s Poochho na hame & Shokh nazar ki bijliyan superbly, and amazingly adapted her voice for Geeta Dutt’s Mera sundar sapna. Naveen rendered Talat’s Meri yaad me with much pathos. Sarvesh was his usual brilliant self, the highlight being Ek haseen sham ko, which was a total paisa vasool! It was wonderful having on the show Sangeeta Gupta ji, the daughter of the genius ghazal composer Madan Mohan. The trio of Raja saheb, MM ji and Lata ji is unparalleled in the history of Indian cinema! I would also like to mention the patriotic songs Watan ki raah and Saare jahan se achha which were very well presented. The two cutie boys who sang Sikandar ne Porus were a real delight! Last but not least, I would like to mention that Sangeeta Bedi, with her wonderful stage presence and flawless Hindi/Urdu diction, was (as Prithvi put it) the rooh of the show. Pradip Narain, Director, Institute of Maths & Economics

I and my friends felt transported to another world while watching Ek tha raja. To all of us it was a soul stirring experience and we must say honestly that we lack words to express our admiration and appreciation. All artists performed superbly well and the music background touched our innermost strings. In particular, your performance style of narration and management of the event is beyond description. You deserve all the prays for steering the cause of immortalising the memories of unforgettable artist through the laudable mission called Ibaadat. Frankly I lack words to thank you. R. K. Naroola, Advocate

It was a wonderful show! Manisha Natarajan, Anchor & Editor, NDTV Property Show

Our guests really liked the show. The Police Commissioner, our board members and the ex-CBI director, among others, just loved the evening. Ajay Neb, Sr. Vice President, Edelweiss Rural & Corporate Services Ltd.

Hello पृथ्वी जी, indeed a very special evening that we all spent with Ibaadat endeavour 'एक था राजा'. Sunita Palita

Very engrossing and beautiful show. We enjoyed the program. D.K. Pradhan, Retd. Consultant, E&Y

Thank you for the opportunity. The show was excellent as usual. I felt that over the years there’s much greater finesse in the presentation and depth in research. The most interesting part is that all the singers have become much better. That shows their dedication and commitment as also your leadership in nurturing and motivating them. Congratulations! It was wonderful to see that the singing talent is passing on well to the latest generation! I realised that I haven’t contributed to this effort in some time. Please send me the bank details where I can send my contribution. Best wishes, Dhruv Prakash, Director, Indiamart

As expected, I liked the show immensely. My daughter promised me that she would write a review and will send you directly, Shri Prakash, Distinguished Fellow, The Energy & Resources Institute; Retd. Member Railway Board

I had accompanied Papa to watch lyricist Raja Mehdi Ali Khan's journey which was revealed to the audience in an extremely innovative and thoughtful manner. I could not help marvelling at the poignant unfolding of the lyricist's life through the musical ensemble. It is only after watching the performance that it dawned on me what a gifted writer Khan was and the beautiful gems he left for the posterity. Thanks for gifting me such a lovely evening of music and dance and needless to say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Sonal Prakash, Journalist, Independent Researcher and Writer

Another amazing performance. Our expectations are always high, and you exceed these every time. Yor research is worth its weight in gold. Stayed glued to the show throughout. Your research is just mind-boggling. I had casually heard of Rajasaheb but now it feels I know him so well. Your singers, especially, the girls, were too good. Sarvesh does a perfect job too. I suggest you seriously think of putting your shows on OTT. You should also consider publishing your scripts, where among other things, each mukhda can be converted to a full song and all ghazals/nazms too. This would be a top seller. Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India

It is great. The cute two boys are amazing. Too good Prithvi bhai.... Y0ur research and your own performance was amazing, all singers and set superb. Anisur Rahman, Sr. Editor, Rekhta Foundation

We are lucky to have been in Delhi from Chennai to attend this show. Thanks to you and your team for having researched and presented Raja Mehdi Ali Khan's life and his work so passionately. Kindly pass on our blessings to them. T.S. (and Meenakshi) Ramji, Chennai

My sister's daughter and her husband were totally mesmerized by the show. Really grateful for your kindness. Bharti Rawat

Sir, no words to say about the program, simply a stress buster and the most memorable part of the program was the performances of Parth and Dev. Enjoyed a lot both the days. Sant Rawat, Sr. Vice President, Prime Database

Thank you for making me a part of this 2-day grand event. It felt like a festival starting from the day of the rehearsal. Aditi Roy, Consultant, Accenture

It was wonderful. Great, great job and congratulations for the amazing program you all curated. I simply loved it. Meghna Mital Sankhla

The show was unparalleled. I searched for a suitable adjective for some two minutes and could not find any. It was high on both literary and artistic quality. I am not sure if this format existed or it is your brainchild. The growth in the show has been spectacular. I don't know if an Oscar exists for this genre. This is my fan moment. Prashant Saran, Retd. Wholetime Member, Securities & Exchange Board of India

You are climbing greater heights and doing a great service to Urdu/Hindi poetry and poets. Partha Sarkar

It truly was an Ibaadat...the love for poetry and music comes through in every word spoken by the narrators…they brought alive the artistes through the anecdotes that gave us a glimpse into their lives. An absolute treat…the sangam of words and music. Sawhney, Thriftshop, Lajpat Bhavan

Congratulations. We really enjoyed the show. I would like TO express our appreciation for your invitation to attend the program on " Ek Tha Raja". We are short of words to thank you and the Ibaadat team for giving us this mesmerizing experience, beginning with spot on timing and brilliantly directed performance and commitment of every individual. The voice of Sarvesh, Supriya Naveen & Sangeeta was exceptional. You and your team seem to raise the bar with every performance. The selection of Kamani was apt being in the middle of the city and a well maintained. Our only wish will be to make it 3 hours show. Best regards. Rathi Shanker

I have been attending Ibaadat shows since 2015 and am an ardent fan of all the creators and artists. The concept of celebrating and remembering the immortal songs and the lyricists is absolutely wonderful and keeps me continuously connected with the creations. I specifically cut short my travel outside Delhi to be able to come and attend this great artistic marvel! And I am enthralled by the renditions, and am truly grateful for the amazing creation, for which I was invited along with my friends. Thank you all for continuing the efforts. Dr. Anshu Sharma, Addl. Director & HoD, Central Government Health Service

Another super show…better than the earlier ones. Have sent you my donation. Atul Sharma, Managing Partner, Link Legal India Law Service

Another superb evening. We are still humming the songs!!! Ranjan Sharma, Managing Director, Star Global Resources Ltd.

At the outset, I wish to congratulate you in particular and your team in general for a fabulous evening celebrating the life of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. I have witnessed several musical programmes both in India and abroad, but never have had such an enthralling experience ever. What fascinated me the most besides the legendary Raja Sahab's lyrical excellence, was the manner in which his life was scripted and narrated. The sets were not only done so tastefully but gave an impression of Rajasaheb being somewhere there amongst us. The singers added charm to the already exalted environment. Overall, a memorable treat which has left an indelible impression on meI will be too glad to be of any assistance towards this noble cause under your stewardship. Kindly do share the bank details of Ibaadat Foundation too. Satya P. Sharma, Retd. Inspector General (Coast Guard)

It was a wonderful event and I really enjoyed it. Sudhanshu Sharma, Manager, ICICI Bank Ltd.

We had lovely musical evening today. Enjoyed thoroughly. Wonderful evening. Very well organised. Suresh Shetty, Managing Director, Emerging Securities Pvt. Ltd.

My wife, I, and our daughter watched “Ek tha raja” right till the end. It was a most enjoyable evening. That is how we should preserve our culture, by contextualising artistic works through a combination of scholarly work, engaging anecdote, and underlining the diverse genius of our heritage. Very well done to you and your team, especially your adorable and talented grandsons, Parth and Dev. Our blessings to them. Dr. Amandeep Singh, Addl. Director General (Audit HQ), Ministry of Finance

Totally stumped. An amazing drama. Nothing comes close to this. Your grandchildren and Jhumka dance were the highlights. Hope you received the 21000 cheque I had sent. Ashwajeet Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, IPE Global Ltd.

First of all, thank you so much for conducting these programmes. Sometimes, we feel and fear that as if we are last generation which may be interested in these writers and music directors and old songs. Inder Mohan Singh, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.

It is truly a pleasure to get invited to the shows that you and the Ibaadat team prepare with so much depth and detail. This year was especially nice to see the family tradition continue with the little ones. We liked every aspect of it and also the prompt start time. Kindly do send me the bank details for transfer as I would like to make a small contribution to the effort. Inderbir (Micky) Singh, Director-Strategy, Infocom Network Ltd.

We really enjoyed the show. Ravi (and Sonil) Singhania, Managing Director, Singhania & Partners LLP

I am thankful to you for inviting to witness the show on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. The program itself was just wonderful! Not just the overall narrative, but also the singing by the multiple artists, each one of whom did an outstanding job of rendering the songs. Anil Sinha, Siemens

What an impressive and enjoyable evening. Your research provided such interesting insights and also lovely selection and singing of songs. Enjoyed every moment. Anil (and Lavi) Sinha, Sr. Consultant, IMF

What amazing work by the team. Incredible work!!! Apka 100% confirmed fan ho gayaa aaj. I must confess that the experience of being at Ek tha raja was fantastic. The songs have been playing out in my mind for the last one week. It was a fantastic production effort and, given that I have some experience of television production, I can assure you that it was a wonderful job done by the entire team. At some stage, I would like to get involved with the Ibaadat Foundation. Since I have a day job now, I don't know how I can contribute. But I would love to, if I can. That gives you some idea of how I loved being there. Ashutosh Sinha, Sr. Editor, Economics Times

Watching Ibaadat Foundation's Raja Mehdi Ali Khan show recently was an exhilarating experience. You have created an iconic platform which will be remembered for decades to come. The hard work that goes into the presentation was visible in every frame of it. From welcoming the guests and ensuring their comfort to maintaining timeliness, stage management elements-from flow of events to entry of artists, from music arrangement to lighting, all exhibited the highest degree of professionalism. But the aspect which makes the Ibaadat shows stand head and shoulders above all other renditions is the painstaking research undertaken by you. Every single minute aspect of the life of the subject artist-his struggles and challenges, his inspiration and genius, was presented before the audience in the most sensitive and aesthetic way. Congratulations! Since I have had the good fortune of watching each and every episode of the Ibaadat show and been part of watching its progression from close quarters, allow me to make a few observations based on my impressions over the years: You must be having full recordings of all the shows done so far. Instead of keeping these in the archives it would be a good idea to find a way to bring these out for posterity in an appropriate manner. The options may include bringing out print versions, coffee table books, abridged versions of the audio-visual shows or other variations which appeal to a contemporary audience. Most of the songs of Hindi cinema are easily available on YouTube or other platforms. What generates interest and brings added value to your programmes is the high-quality artistes that you have been able to introduce for live rendition of these songs. This must go on. I also liked the introduction of dances in some situations. It helps in preventing monotony from setting in during a two hour plus programme. Your single subject themes for each show was a pioneering innovation. Going forward, you may find challenges in identifying new artists whose works command lasting attraction from contemporary audiences. This is also because of the fact that the richness of Hindi cinema in terms of soul-stirring lyrics and melodious music has not been of the same level as it was till the 1980's. One has to start thinking of new ways to sustain modern audience interest while continuing with the basic task of creating awareness about the contributions of Indian cinema towards high quality music and lyrics. One thought that comes to my mind is to initiate programmes which are a comparative study of two or more artists. For example, a comparison of Majrooh and Kaifi Azmi, of Sahir and Shakeel, of Shailendra and Neeraj, of Naushad or Khayyam and so on will arouse a new degree of interest. The selection of subjects can also be based on themes or on time periods like- 60's or 70's etc. There are multiple ways of choosing it. But the point I am trying to make is that it may take the production to an entirely new height and evince interest from a very discerning audience. I am cognizant that this requires a more rigorous effort, but I am also sure that with your focus on impeccable research, you can do it. I am looking at it as a platform which has a life much beyond the next 10-15 years and which is remembered decades after decades. I am sure you will agree that creating a long-lasting legacy does require regular introspection. Wishing you all the best in your pioneering efforts. U.K. Sinha, Retd. Chairman, Securities & Exchange Board of India

Such a wonderful program. Beautifully done. Lovely anecdotes, and mesmerizing beautiful and haunting music. Alok Thakar, Ex AIIMS/ENT & Head-Neck Oncology

It was a great pleasure attending the show along with my wife. The event was organised very professionally and very tastefully. The research and presentation on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was impressive and articulation was brilliant. The anecdotes and humor were apt. All the singers were par excellence and creating a show without a musical band per say was quite innovative and certain songs without any background music were indeed very refreshing Starting the show in time and ending per schedule was truly remarkable reflecting the depth of planning and perfect execution. Sushil Thariani

This was our first Ibaadat show and it was far beyond anything we could imagine. Firstly, it is surreal really that one would go back into the musical history of our Hindi film industry and bring alive so vividly the memories of someone so long forgotten like the great Raja Mehdi Ali Khan Sahib. It really was ibaadat in right sense of the word and I am sure long departed soul of Raja sahib would be shedding tears of joy and pride. Secondly, how fabulously and spellbindingly the course of the show was run, how passionately and beautifully you spoke and kept us spell bound for two and half hours with us wishing the show goes and on....and of course how fantastically all the singers sang such memorable melodies of those times....including the two little beautiful boys Parth and Dev....My wife and I were thanking our stars, that just by logging on to the website of the Foundation, we were given this amazing opportunity to witness something as beautiful as "Ek Tha Raja"...We don't really have words enough to thank you and the Foundation. Narinder (and Alka) Thukral, Retd.Banker

Thanks for a wonderful program, as usual!!! Your meticulous research is really laudable. May you have many more. Parth and Dev are really cute and learning well under your guidance. They are going to be great stage artists!! Pleasure to see them. Dr. Reva Tripathi, Sr. Consultant, Sitaram Bhartia Hospital

We thoroughly enjoyed the programme on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and we look forward to watching more such programmes in future. We enjoy mostly the songs from old movies belonging to the 1940s to 1960s,1970s. It was a very joyful evening for us. Please keep us on your mailing list. Also, it would be a pleasure for us to support such efforts and contribute towards your mission. Kindly let me know your bank details. Prof. Anil K. (and Jaya) Tyagi, Former Vice Chancellor, GGS Indraprastha University; Former Professor and Head of Biochemistry, University of Delhi South Campus

Simply awesome. Loved every minute of the show. Dev and Parth were amazing. Your female singers are a class apart. Am sending you my contribution of Rs. 1 lakh. Ashok Tyagi, Group CFO, DLF Ltd.

Thanks a lot indeed for letting us soak into such an outstanding evening. It was truly wonderful. Gyan P. Upadhyaya, Cabinet Secy.-Sikkim

What a spectacular musical evening! Never realised the contribution of Raja to the world of lyrics till yesterday’s show. Just did not realise how two& half hours went by as we watched the show. I feel this was probably the best way to pay tribute to the late lyricist. There is so little we knew about Raja and how much we learned from your excellent narrative about him. A mind-blowing performance. Ravi Uppal, Chairman & Managing Director, Steel Infra Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Congratulations on the excellent show. Having attended an earlier show dedicated to Sahir Ludhianvi, you and team have created a benchmark on such shows that nobody can come near Ibaadat. Rajan Varma, Retd. PWC India

We thoroughly enjoyed it, as always. May I request to please share Ibaadat's bank information for the contribution. Aasheesh Verma

It was a mesmerising performance. I think time is ripe to take Ibaadat at the full length and breadth of India and even at the international level. My deep sense of appreciation to the artists and the Team Ibaadat ably led by you. C.S. Verma, MD & CEO, Firstadvantage Consulting Group Ltd.; Former Chairman & MD, Steel Authority of India Ltd.

Had a great time and enjoyed the show. Very well presented. Please do send the bank details. Thanks, Rashmi Verma, Bank Manager

It was my first experience of Ibaadat and what a fantastic one. Had just about heard the name Raja Mehdi Ali Khan but had no idea that such famous songs were composed by him. The while concept was superb and unique. Kept the packed audience actively engaged and we learnt so much of this literary genius. I didn't realise that one of my favourite songs which I try to sing was his creation " Ek haseen sham " The smooth pace, the mix and rotation of speakers plus the excellent singers was a treat in the true sense. Thanks for giving us the opportunity. It was a pleasant surprise to discover Sangeeta, daughter of Madan Mohan ji on stage. Rajiv, her husband is my classmate from school. All on stage were outstanding. No wonder Ibaadat is thriving year by year. What a fantastic journey for Ibaadat. It is true worship! Anil Wadhwa

Great show. Highlight: Parth and Dev. Dr. Rupali Yadav, Prof. Indian Art

It was a beautifully curated evening on Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and I loved it. Manoj Yadava. Director General, National Human Rights Commission

Every minute was worth it. I really liked Sangeeta Melekar’s singing and the depth of her voice. I was happy to see her on stage with your group and sing so melodiously. Unknown
