Me and my wife Neeru both were there in the show. As before, and as always, the show on Kaviraaj Shailendra was very nicely presented, and was well researched. In the short duration of about two hours, one could get to listen to so many of his songs, sung by excellent singers. And this time a beautiful dance also was included which was a great attraction. Kaviraaj was all over in the air, in the spirits, as Ibaadat presented songs, memories and anecdotes with great respect to the legendary poet and lyricist. Impossible to believe that its already 56 years without Shailendra as he had passed away just at the age of 43 in 1966. It was impossible, as almost everyone in the audience in the packed house, had his words preserved in their hearts and were singing along. Dinesh Shankar Shailendra, his son, shared some heart-warming stories and memories of his father to showcase the human side of Shailendra. Shailendra left us at 43 with so much of treasure to cherish for ages, imagine if he had 20-30 years more, what more it could have been. Bonus of the evening was meeting Amla di, Shailendraji's daughter who came from Dubai for the show. Thanks Team Ibaadat for keeping Shailendra's spirit alive. First of all, I would like to compliment you on organizing such a wonderful show on the legend Kaviraaj Shailendra who was an asset to the Bollywood industry. That way you gave us an opportunity to peep into his life and Bollywood journey, his poetries, his personality and dedication to the industry. The people understand your obsession with punctuality and we were mesmerized with the crowd which occupied the chairs quite in time. The show kickstarted exactly on the scheduled time of 6.30pm. The stage was decorated quite decently and the aura created was quite serene and hailing. The songs chosen were too melodious and we liked the concept of introducing songs on tracks instead of on live music which sometimes disturbs the singers because of poor quality. The tracks were impeccable and flawless. Timely conclusion of the program was a cherry on the cake. The potential of Deepshikha was not exploited to her fullest capacity, she is too melodious and could be given more songs. Supriya Joshi has quite a mellifluous voice. Wish every song was sung fully. We all enjoyed the show. Usually, most of the people only remember the singer and music composer of a song and they ignore the lyricist who plays a vital role in the emotion and message which is conveyed through the song. These kinds of shows are unique as they concentrate on the lyricists. I realised this in your previous show on Sahir Ludhianavi. My favourite one this time was "Nani Teri Morni Ko Mor Le Gaye" by that little girl. However, other songs and performances cannot be ignored and they were equally mesmerising. The anecdotes related to Kaviraaj Shailendra which were narrated on stage were very interesting and were of human interest. Hosts were perfect. Sometimes I wonder how you and other hosts managed the show impeccably with interesting conversations/dialogues and appropriate timing. Your entries/exits are just perfectly planned. I was not aware of this Foundation of yours of great people and was introduced to it by my father-in-law, Shri Arun Kumar ji, who retired as the Chief Secretary, Rajasthan. The whole family had been heaping praise about the works of Ibaadat and the sheer perfect execution of the programs. Extensive research. Sheer perfect track of thoughts and songs. Melodious voices rendering the lyrics penned down by the greats. I could not resist myself, when I came to know about the Shailendra program. I came to Jaipur that very afternoon only to attend the program and left back for Delhi the next morning. To be honest, 'Kaviraaj Shailendra' lived up to the praises being heaped on you all, for your earlier programs. To put it in plain and simple words, the rendition of 'Kaviraaj Shailendra' was justice to the greatness of one of the greatest lyricists. You had pieced every snippet of his life and every song beautifully like a beautiful necklace, of the best of pearls, each better than the other, and pieced in a sequence making it an amazing piece of jewellery. I do not know how time flew and the program which had just started came to an end. There I was, humming the lyrics along with the amazing singers who were the jewels of the show. The show was loved and enjoyed by all who attended. There were six of us sitting together upstairs from sound, to the lighting on-stage and the air conditioning, everything was perfect. The singers were very good, including our own Deepshikha Jain. I think this programme was better than all previous ones. No drag, no pauses, absolutely seamless script, probably well-rehearsed, because everybody knew exactly when to appear and exit! The choice of songs was excellent, and since most in the audience were musically inclined, every number was appreciated and recognized immediately. All of you looked relaxed, and spoke so well. It was a pleasure listening to you talk about Shailendra. The presence of his children put a stamp of authenticity, and brought out little known personal events from his life. We hear so many old songs, without knowing who wrote them. It is only in programmes such as yours, that we realise the volume, and, more importantly, the quality of work delivered by stalwarts like Shailendra. Another amazing show, another city and Ibaadat marches on. Never resting on their laurels, relentless in the research, as each performance is better than the previous. Of all the performances I have seen on stalwart writers/poets and I must say, enjoyed thoroughly, my most favourite, and that’s but natural, is the one on my father. There pretoir of his songs, brings bottled up emotions to the fore. Some joyful some sad and I take solace in the warmth of his unseen presence.
