At the outset, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation of the programme on Late Hasrat Jaipuri. The programme was extremely well conceived and beautifully presented. It was a veritable treat to listen to the poetry and lyrics of the renowned poet, through his popular numbers from Hindi movies, presented by an extremely talented group of singers under your able guidance. The anecdotes on various aspects of their lives narrated by yourself, Sangeeta Ji and Naveen Anand Ji further enhanced the musical experience. My wife, who also attended also conveys her appreciation of the programme. This was our first experience of attending the programme presented by the Ibaadat Foundation and so enthralled we were by the experience, that we are very keen to attend the future programmes presented by the Foundation. Ibaadat is truly a labor of love, motivated by the desire to bring to life music and memories that have sometimes got buried in the archives of history and also to pay tribute to some of the unsung heroes of the music world, the humble lyricist whose words are as evocative as the mellifluous sounds of Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Da and Manna Dey. I have attended a number of Ibaadat shows in Dubai and have come away spellbound by the memories and nostalgia they have aroused. For days, I have caught myself humming the songs I heard in the show. The show on Hasrat Jaipuri was no exception. I had no idea, until I saw the show and read the pamphlet you produced for the occasion, that he was the person responsible for penning the lyrics to the songs that have uplifted the spirit and the soul and created an atmosphere where the lyrics tease and cajole the emotions out of your being. My name is Radhey and I am 12 years old. Yesterday I had come to see your program “Shahenshah e rumaniyat” in Dubai. I came to see you as well after the show to express my appreciation for the songs, particularly by Dr Supriya Aunty. In fact the entire performance was amazing. At first I thought that this play might not be interesting and I felt it boring. But as the singers started singing, it started to get interesting .My parents kept telling me how these song were popular during their teens. I could visualise them being in my age and listening to these song on the radio. My parents had also said that on their wedding video they had played this song “baharo phool barsaao”. The play was mind blowing. My favourite song was “zindagi ek safar hai suhana”. I LOVED THE SHOW A LOT. A delectable evening! We discovered what a prolific poet Hasrat was!! Most of our favourites of 50s - 60s were penned by him, sung by Rafi Saheb and put to tune by S&J. The program was very well put together, perfectly paced, adequate variety and managed to hold interest for 2-1/2 hours! And, it started on time! We need more organisations like Ibaadat to mine the treasure of the Golden Era of Indian film industry... to keep it alive for the next generation! Prithvi, you were very impressive on the stage. Obviously, matching the vocal of legends... Lata, Rafi, Kishore... is almost impossible but the power of HJ's poetry took us back to the days when we grew up humming his immortal poetry! I can talk about the show in detail for hours, honestly. At the outset my heartiest congratulations on an exemplary show on the legend. Having organized many events so far, the critic in me was looking for shortcomings, but the show was so engrossing that everything appeared at its best to me. It was absolutely engaging and crisp! Let me stress the word 'Crisp here, because seldom do we see shows starting and ending on time and not having pauses between segments. You have indeed rehearsed well and the technical side needs a round of applause for keeping it clean! To portray a legend's life and work- in such a short span of time is indeed a humongous task and your team has shown absolute justice to it! I brought along, my friend, Hindustani singer and advocate of music therapy Dr Mohammed Shakeel, who was also all praises about Shahenshah-e-Ruumaaniyat: Hasrat Jaipuri and thanked me profusely for taking him along.
