All of us were absolutely delighted to witness this unique way presentation, seemingly becoming a part of life of Sahir in a fast-forward mode, with all the inner trials and tribulations, joys and sorrows and achievements of his life, helping us connect better to the already wonderful experience of Sahir’s works. Wonderful research work (should be a lot of work for you and team) and then to weave it in such a nice and relatable storyline, making it easy to grasp for even the youngsters to grasp (even my kids could connect to an extent, now they have a basis to appreciate what we appreciated for long. Ufff! is an extremely versatile word. It is used to express irritation, impatience and even frustration. But in its more sublime usage, Uffff!(yes, with many ffffs) is when you use it to express heightened marvel or a joyous disbelief. 'Sahir, Kahan ho tum' presented by Ibaadat Foundation was a very large Uffff! One that a full house audience could not get enough of even after 2.5 hours of a non-interval show. Truly amazed the way show was conducted. The show started on dot at 6.30 pm (unexpected). The stage was well decorated, appropriately depicting the experiences of Sahir. Every dialogue delivered on the stage was well crafted and delivered with appropriate feel and passion. Kudos to Prithvi ji. It was a perfect screenplay, as if we were watching a live documentary (with a feel of biopic) and the team of singers mesmerised the audience. It was a wow moment of hearing each of the singers. I am a stranger to you and I beg to be pardoned if I am trespassing on your busy schedule. I had the fortune to witness your musical drama ‘साहिर तुम कहाँ हो “. At the outset, I must compliment you for an outstanding show which was at once comprehensive, honest and engaging. It was honest because you did not only talk about the goody goody aspects of Sahir’s towering genius but also about his shortcomings like his unsavoury behaviour, his scepticism and his almost insufferable conceit. Even Ghalib shared a bit of Sahir’s smugness, when he wrote about himself — हैं और भी दुनिया में सुख़न-वर बहुत अच्छे, कहते हैं कि 'ग़ालिब' का है अंदाज़-ए-बयाँ और. As a matter of fact, these shortcomings alone makes Sahir human, otherwise, as Ghalib wrote, one would easily pass him as super human; ये मसाईल-ए-तसव्वुफ़, ये तिरा बयान 'ग़ालिब'., तुझे हम वली समझते, जो न बादा-ख़्वार होता, When one knows how to say what he says becomes secondary. Sahir exactly knew how to put things across, words came to him as naturally as fragrance to flower. Your selection of songs as well as their rendition were par excellence. One notable couplet, which speaks of Sahir’s philosophical quest, and which according to Sahir is the ultimate leveller, I think, was missing.
